Accessibility

Overview

This is the official accessibility statement for Norwich and Peterborough, and details some of the features we have included to make our site more accessible to visitors with disabilities. It also contains instructions on steps you can take to alter your web browser setup if you would benefit from alternative settings.

The decisions we have made during the development of this site were based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 1, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Although there are no formal legal guidelines for developing accessible websites, we feel that the WCAG represents current best practice.

If you have experienced any difficulties in using this website, or would like to suggest a change that would benefit you, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch by email: brokersupport@npbs.co.uk or by using our contact form.

Changing the size of text

There are two ways that you can alter the size of the text used on this site:

  1. By clicking the ‘Bigger text’ and ‘Smaller text’ buttons near the top of every page;
  2. By using the built-in “text size” options in your web browser. In most browsers this can be found under “View, Text Size”. You can also access this feature by holding down the Ctrl key and using your mouse wheel.

Standards compliance

All pages on this site should validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict, use Cascading Style Sheets to control visual layout, and use only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers.

All pages on this site use structured semantic markup. H1 tags are used for main titles, H2 tags for secondary titles, and H3 tags for sub-titles. For example, on this page, JAWS users can skip to the next section within the accessibility statement by pressing ALT+INSERT+3.
